500 Words 2020

11th Jan 20

The BBC's 500 Words 2020 writing competition for children aged 5-13 years opens for entries on 16th January and will run through to 27th February.

This is the tenth anniversary of the awards. Entrants are asked to submit an original story of up to 500 words, and submit it online. It can be about anything they want to write space-ships, grannies, insects, boats...

Stories are judged anonymously, and young writers don't need to worry about grammar, punctuation or spelling.

The competition winners will be announced during a broadcast with live music and sensational story-telling during the summer, at a special venue. Past venues have included The Globe and The Tower of London.
