David Melling

David Melling loved drawing as a child and became a freelance illustrator in 1986, drawing for magazines and advertising agencies, as well as a brief spell in animation.

In 1993 he illustrated his first children's book and went on to write and illustrate his own picture book, The Kiss That Missed, in 2002. It was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway award.

To date, David has illustrated more than 60 books, writing and illustrating around 15 of them.

He lives near Oxford with his Croatian wife and their two children.
