A wonderful new character from the bestselling creators of Barry the Fish with Fingers and the illustrator of Goodnight Digger. Simon is an odd, stripey sock. He lives in the drawers with all the other socks. Every day two socks get picked to go on an adventure. The sparklies go to parties. The woolies go the park. The smarts go to school. Everyone has a pair... except Simon. Will he ever find his perfect match? A hilarious story celebrating friendship and difference from an exciting new picture book partnership. Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet's hilarious books have sold over 1 million copies!

Simon Sock is stripy and alone. All the other socks in the sock drawer have partners, which means they can have adventures when they are worn. Simon dreams of being picked but he isn't chosen because, as the Spotty socks tell him, he is odd! Ted, the Teddy Bear, tries to help; he introduces Simon to a striped glove, who unfortunately already has a partner, a stripy snake, who squeezes Simon very tight, and a striped straw who doesn't speak.

None of Ted's introductions work. Simon feels totally abandoned and then his partner is found under the chest drawers but, as with many stories, there is a twist at the end.

Nick East brings this delightful story to life through his engaging and funny illustrations that will delight the child reader. The ending shows the reader that we don't always have to fit in with conventions and will make an interesting topic of conversation to have with a group of Key Stage 1 children.
